To say Summer has been uneven this year would be an understatement but the Sun is out and for those on their employment journey might be asking themselves “How do I stay motivated during this time?” Well to help we’ve asked several members of Working Well Trust their advice how to beat the heat and stay motivated during the Summertime Slowdown
Alexandra is the team lead for Working Well Trust Enfield and her advice is simple
“Motivation tip for summer: Break work down into small chunks and reward yourself after tackling each one with a short walk (or lie down) in the sun, a big glass of something cold or an ice cream!”
Tae an Employment Specialist for our Thrive into Work service meanwhile had this to say
Set small, achievable goals each week. Whether updating your CV, networking with one new contact, or researching companies, accomplishing these tasks keeps momentum even when the sun is shining outside.”
Jason our Communications Officer has a simple tip that could definitely help when trying to contact people during those summer months.
“You’ll definitely see a lot of Out of Office emails as people take those summer breaks. Don’t be afraid to introduce yourself to whoever is covering for them. It helps keep the momentum going as well as creating another contact for you.”
Clem from Working Well Trust Kingston offers some advice for Neurodiverse people in these summer months.
“Make sure to keep yourself cool, the high temperatures poses its own issues for those with sensory processing difficulties and by keeping yourself hydrated and out of the heat you’ll find it easier to manage your motivation.”
Finally Sakina a peer support worker for our Upskill service sums it up nicely with some words of encouragement to everyone out there job searching right now.
