LZ* came to Upskill asking for support in entering the HR sector. They faced mental health and financial challenges but also lacked confidence and experience. Together LZ and Upskill searched for part time employment. With Upskill supporting LZ throughout the process they secured LZ part-time work in both a Sports Wear shop and a customer service role.
Motivated by this success they were keen to take the next step towards their dream job of a HR role. They talked through any issues they were having around confidence and found time to volunteer in an office environment. Working together Upskill and LZ created a job description of the role they wanted, including experience needed. Since then, they have volunteered at Working Well Trust’s head office providing administrative support in the office.
LZ says they are much more motivated and hopeful about their future direction and taking things step by step. They are confident of passing their qualifications and with a CV now including more work experience they feel like they’re moving forward.
