AQ’s Story

Despite the challenges of trying to find a role that fit around his schedule AQ remains motivated to continue his Employment Journey and with the support of his Employment Specialist they are more motivated than ever to find a role that is right for them.

AQ was working three days a week and wanted to bolster his income while balancing their current job. He was keen for a hospitality job such as a mixologist, bartender, or barista while also wanting to do something community-focused. For AQ an important part of supporting his wellbeing was having a routine while also being in work

AQ was supported by his employment specialist (ES)  to apply for a role with an employer the Barking & Dagenham service had a strong relationship with. While his application was well received and he was offered a telephone interview sadly AQ could not work the hours they wanted.

Undetermined AQ was encouraged by his ES to think outside of the box and decided to use contacts made through his current role and the local community instead. With this approach, AQ was able to find a variety of roles including paid festival work, a role providing resident feedback for a local community initiative, and a regular casual drinks-making position with another organisation.

Despite the challenges of trying to find a role that fit around his schedule AQ remains motivated to continue his Employment Journey and with the support of his Employment Specialist they are more motivated than ever to find a role that is right for them.
