Shabana’s Sewing and Sustaining

Just two months since its launch, the Sew & Sustain workshops have achieved remarkable success being so popular there's now a waiting list. We wish Shabana all the best with their continued success!

Shabana had previously volunteered for our
Sew & Support service which had supported Tower Hamlets residents learn valuable textile skills. When the project came to a close Shabana was determined to carry on the good work of the project.

The idea was for Sew and Sustain a workshop that would support isolated people in the North West locality in Bethnal Green by providing a space people could both meet and learn to sew.

To help start this however Shabana would need to apply for funding from the Communities Keeping Well Fund which would involve a Dragons Den style pitch.

Shabana with the support of our Employment Hub service put together a presentation for the pitch meeting, going over techniques for presenting and also accompanying her for moral support where Shabana impressed the panel to receive the full amount!

Just two months since its launch, the Sew & Sustain workshops have achieved remarkable success being so popular there’s now a waiting list. We wish Shabana all the best with their continued success!

We’d also like to thank Communities Keeping Well, Amy Jones and especially Barbara for all the support.
